March 2018 - Classical Young Artist Series "Contrasts"

The Starlight Symphony Orchestra is pleased to present its next concert, “Contrasts.” The theme is revealed through the musical selection and performance of several great classical works, including the second movement of “Symphony No. 9, in D Minor,” by Bruckner. Other pieces by Edward Elgar and Daniel Auber highlight the “Contrasts” in dynamics, style, technique, expression, and so much more. In addition to these captivating pieces, the Starlight Symphony shines the spotlight on the winners of the 2018 Young Artist Competition. Joanna Kim performs “Concertino for Flute and Orchestra, in D, Op. 107,” by Cecile Chaminade, Sophia Ayer performs the first movement of Mozart’s “Violin Concerto No. 4,” and Sarah Hensalman performs the first movement of “Piano Concerto in A Minor, Op. 54,” by Robert Schumann.
